Children with autism have larger brains size up to 10% compared to normal children. This condition can be seen at the time the child turns two years old. This was disclosed in the Archives of General Psychiatry report; some researchers from the University of North Carolina found that children with autism have had signs of enlargement of the brain at the age of two years.

This brain enlargement occurs due to increased number of folds of the brain surface due to the proliferation of brain neurons. For researchers continue to develop further studies to find out what kind of gene that makes the brain neurons experiencing excessive proliferation. At this time University of North Carolina has carrying out two separate studies to obtain answers to that question.

Signs of autism can be monitored by continuing to observe the development of a child’s brain size. Are like that disclosed by Heather Cody Hazlett, assistant professor of psychiatry that was very important in monitoring the size of brain and behavior changes as they age.
