Beware of Straighten Hair Products

Hair straightening is included in the main reasons women come to the salon. If you’re one of them, you should be aware of the dangers of chemicals contained in hair straightening products.

Department security and safety in the U.S. (OSHA) recently issued a hazard warning of hair straightened products that are often used in salons for using formaldehyde. These chemicals help to bind the keratin hair so the hair becomes straight.

This Formaldehyde has long been identified as carcinogenic substances in many countries. Besides the hair straightened products, these chemicals are in various levels are also found in smoothing products (straightening and softening hair), although the packaging says “free formaldehyde”.

In its recommendation OSHA advised the owner to use the product free of formaldehyde, methylene glycol, formaldehyde, methylene oxide, paraform, formic aldehyde, metahanl, oxomethane and oxymethylene.

In addition to American, Canadian government also warned its citizens about the dangers of Brazilian blowout and started pulling these products off the market.
