Diabetes and Depression a Deadly Disease Combination
A woman who suffered two diabetes and depression, both diseases have the same risk of death caused by heart disease. Both the disease is like a vicious circle which can equally threaten someone’s life.
Dr. Frank B. Hu, a professor from Harvard Medical School says diabetics more prone to depression because they have experienced long-term psychosocial stress, especially if the diabetes has experienced complications.
Diabetics who are depressed are often unable to control the disease that causes severe complications increases. From both these conditions can affect not only biological factors but also can affect behavior.
Diabetes type 2 and depression can occur is affected by unhealthy lifestyles such as smoking, high fat foods and not exercising. In addition, depression can trigger changes in the nervous system which adversely affects the heart.
During this often undiagnosed diabetes patients experiencing depression. According to the data, in the United States 15 million people suffer from depression and 23.5 million people suffer from diabetes. A quarter of patients with diabetes also suffer from depression which means the amount of two times higher than people without diabetes.
Women with diabetes have an increased risk of death 35 percent higher risk of depression and that 44 per cent compared with women who do not suffer from two diseases.
