nevusNevus is a general term that describes the presence of pigmented spots on the skin. Nevus composed of various types, including the so-called melanocytic nevus and giant hairy nevus. This type of nevus is a benign disorder. Melanocytic nevus by laymen has known as the term “mole” (nevus pigmentosus). Giant hairy nevus is important because about 10-15% may develop into malignant.

Symptoms of Nevus

Basically nevus will not give symptoms for the disease was still in a state of benign. But we need to know some of the signs when it becomes malignant nevus:
1. Ulceration (sores) and spontaneous bleeding
2. Nevus becomes enlarged and darker colors.
3. Spread of pigment into the surrounding skin
4. No lesions around the smaller surrounding.
5. Inflammation without prior trauma
6. Pain and itching

Treatment Nevus

Nevus generally does not require treatment unless the patient wants the nevus is removed or the doctor suspects a change towards malignancy. Therapy chosen is simple excision of suspected malignant nevus should be biopsied and removed all / surgery.

Main Causes of Nevus

Nevus is the most common tumors in humans, is a tumor derived from cells of melanocytic. Nevus commonly appears at birth or soon after birth, mostly in young adults, and decreased in the elderly.
Not required additional tests to diagnose nevus.
