Rates of autism in children have now doubled with 1:38 ratio. Results of recent studies are two-fold higher than previous studies that have at 1:100 ratio.

Studies published in the American Journal of Psychiatry were conducted in South Korea. One aim, according to Dr. Young Shin Kim of Yale Child Study Center, is to obtain a clearer picture about the level of autism by detecting actual cases of autism in children who are not specifically addressed in the community.

Kim and his team conducted a study to expand the reach and observe more closely the children in general. That way, he can find a level characteristic of autism is higher. But they were surprised by how high the level of autism that they found.

However their findings are not meant for children with autism in South Korea more than in the United States. The findings of this study is at once dismissed the notion that autism is a disorder that affected regional boundaries or socio-economic circumstances. At this time, science has uncovered not only the fault of understanding about autism but also make it a global discourse of child health that needs to be dealt with more aggressively.
