Premature babies more sensitive to pain so they will feel pain more acutely than babies who were born normal. Some experts suspect this may be due to the incentives they receive treatment at the hospital.

Premature babies more sensitive due to the tube-feeding, injections, and blood tests that must be lived at the time of premature babies in hospital. That is why experts strongly recommend that babies who are at the infirmary incentives given pain medication.

Some researchers from the University College London has made a study to monitor brain activity of premature baby who had been hospitalized for 40 days when they were undergoing routine blood tests.

The measured brain activity using electroencephalogram (EEG) and showed that premature babies have a stronger brain activity compared with infants born to normal. It is concluded that premature babies are more sensitive to pain.

At the time of the two groups of infants to get the soft touch on the foot, both groups of infants showed the same brain activity. This also shows the sensitivity of premature infants is much more sensitive to pain than usual to the touch. The research results show that premature birth and intensive care in a hospital would affect the brain in the process of feeling pain, or pain.

In general, premature baby will get a much longer period of intensive care than babies born to normal. It is strongly recommended for health workers and doctors need to pay attention to the quality of hospital management.
