quit smokingIn order to keep your memory sharp there is no better way than with maintaining a healthy lifestyle, with plenty of fresh foods and also quit smoking. Smokers who have quit smoking have been shown to have better memory skills than before quitting.

Although it is uncertain how the mechanisms of smoking may impair the ability of the memory but the research has shown, if too often smoke would be harmful to some areas of the brain especially the frontal lobe, hippocampus or thalamus, all of this is the part which is strongly associated with memory you. In a study led by Tom Heffernan, of Northumbria University in England, the researchers conducted a test to test the memory of smokers who had quit smoking for 2.5 years. The results of these studies have proven that those who have the memory capacity by 25 per cent better than the people who still smoke. Meanwhile, people who never smoked at all have the memory capacity by 37 per cent better than someone who smokes.

Tom Heffernan also said that quit smoking is not only useful to the body but will be able to improve cognitive function, particularly the ability of memory.

In earlier studies have shown that quit smoking will increase the “memory restropektif” The ability to remember certain actions in the future.
