Stress Response That Will Killing You
“It’s not stress that kills us, it’s our reaction to it” (Hans Seyle)
if you said never experience stress in your life, I think you are the biggest liar who ever lived on this earth. Why do I dare say so? This is because stress is actually something that normally occurs in human life. What makes the stress is due to a balance (homeostasis) is disturbed in his body. Responses that occur can be either physiological responses (physical) and psychological responses (psychological).
Prior to further discussion, I just want to emphasize that the stress in question is the collective physiological and emotional responses to any stimulus that upsets the balance of a person. Stress here is not intended as psychiatric disorders such as depression and schizophrenia, which is often misunderstood by the public.
Good Stress and Bad Stress
Stress is not always bad. Hans Seyle says there are two categories of stress that is Eustress and Distress. Eustress is good stress that drives someone to do something better. Stress was adapted very well by the body as a normal response and provides a sense of comfort in doing so. Conversely Distress is bad stress, which makes people uncomfortable both physically and mentally. Stress adaptation is due to poor response by the individual.
The easiest example is when we are experiencing congestion on the road. Factors that could be referred to as stressors (things that create stress) this can mean different things to different people. For those who were jammed with people who are crush may be stuck a long time together is more fun because more and more. Meanwhile, if there are similar conditions for the couple who are fighting or are noisy, then the response will get very uncomfortable.
Do not hold too long
When you follow the laws of physics, that energy will move from one form to another, then so does stress. We often become uncomfortable with the stress because apart from our perception of negative stress, this stress we also hold too long.
The parable of the good is when we hold a glass of water. If we hold the glass in just 1 minute may not be felt, but try if we hold the same position for 1 hour. Surely we would feel uncomfortable. Similarly stressors, the thing that makes us uncomfortable when we hold a long time will also cause effects that are not convenient for our bodies.
The Trained Response
Responding positively to stress is not an easy task; it needs to exercise for life. Automatically our response to the stress that comes is negative, how we think the reverse is the response obtained in the exercise of the old. We need to realize that these things can be learned and trained in every opportunity.
As long as people were still able to think well then our response to stress can change. Depending on the direction we want the good and the bad, our response to this stress that can save or kill us.
