What is chikungunya fever?
Chikungunya is a virus that originated from the family Togaviridae, genus alphaviruses. The virus is transmitted from Aedes species, namely Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, which will cause fever, called chikungunya fever. Chikungunya fever has become endemic in Africa and Asia, particularly in India.
Unlike chikungunya fever Dengue, chikungunya fever can cause death, although not equally transmitted by the mosquito Aedes aegypti. Chikungunya fever in the general population is often referred to as avian bone. This disease has no vaccine or specific drug specific, but this disease will heal by itself. The disease is also not going to attack the same patient.
Symptoms of chikungunya fever are as follows: high fever, pain in the joints for several weeks or up to several months, no appetite, weakness, frequent nausea, headaches, there is a red rash on the skin on day 3 or day 5 after this disease and can cause red eye.
Actions that can be made where this disease is by taking medicine for fever, pain-reducing medication, adequate rest to relieve joint, drink lots of juice and eat nutritious foods to increase endurance, and immediate hospital treatment if the fever does not go down after 2 days
As a precautionary measure to prevent chikungunya fever should be initiated by eradicating mosquitoes carrying the virus, open doors and windows every day, increase endurance that are not easily hurt by way of exercise.
